The Some Like It Hot Story

The Some Like It Hot story began way back in 95 when founder Peter Davy and his family moved out to some land in Dairy Flat. To satisfy his hunger for truly hot food he began growing and experimenting with different strains of chillies and crafting them into sauce. In his quest to make the tastiest most bad-ass product he tried hundreds of different recipes, giving them to family and friends for coveted feedback.

The First Some Like It Hot

Just over a year after it's initial conception the sauce had it's face. With the help of Pete's older brother Richard a label was forged and the sauce was ready for distribution. Our family and friends were stoked!

The Big Move

In late 2005 the fam sold up at the farm in Dairy Flat and headed deep into the clutches of suburbia. A strange and unfamiliar terrain with no green house, no garden and no chilies. The sauce fell into an uneasy state of limbo.

Dont call it a comeback

For years the sauce lay dormant, living only in the confines of family and friends.Then on the back of continuous pleas , Pete and his son Jake sculled back a bottle of the hot stuff and began putting together a plan to unleash the fiery goodness upon the world.

The Sauce Become Legal

We've never really been ones for rules, but for the sake of bringing our flaming nectar to the world we figured it was our duty to get health and safety approved. Bazillions of phone calls and a mountain of paperwork later and we had achieved our goal. Some Like It Hot was legal.

The Sauce

Available in Medium and Hot and made with NZ grown chillies, Some Like It Hot is a hand made batch manufactured chilli sauce. Drawing comparisons to salsa and chutney, our reasonably sized hexagonal bottles are packed full of fiery chunks of chilli and tomato. $13 a bottle.

Chilli Jelly

Made with NZ grown chillies, and glowing a fiery colour our Cilli Jelly is the perfect accomplice to cheese and cold meats. $6 a jar.
